I watched the first episode of “Mad men” show on amc.com after this article from design observer.
I did like it. It was interesting. But I’m somewhat new to the idea of watching TV shows online. And although nice people from AMCtv.com were so kind that they didn’t force on me any advertising, I still felt like time is moving slow. I think it’s not the problem with the movie it is either with me or the whole thing of watching TV on computer screen.
You see I have an old 56 inch big screen set that sits in the corner of my pretty big living room aimed at my couch. I rarely watch TV and if I do it is a leisure activity when I’m so tired that I can’t do anything else. And instead of just lying on a couch I also watch some show.
It is quite annoying that in half an hour the amount of information broadcast is so small especially if you exclude the commercials. Even if you include the commercials it is still small because commercials keep repeating. You almost feel retarded when you are watching TV. But it is no big deal that time flows slow and some stuff gets repeated 5 times in half an hour because I’m just laying there relaxing and my brain is not functioning in full power anyway.
It is different when I’m sitting next to a computer at my desk. I’m wide awake and it feels like work and I want to be productive. The pace is so much different.
May be with time I will get used to the idea. But for now I’m looking for an affordable solution to watch online content on my Tv set while I’m on my couch and there are no computers in visible range.

Knowing that you help and give back something out to the community is a good feeling. It makes your life more purposeful and meaningful. Especially it is nice when it is something that you do for a living. What about RTML programming?

How can you trust company that can loose control over own blog by stupid mistake?
I guess it depends on what that company does.
How about company, collecting personal data of millions of users all over the world?
Next time they will make their databases available to everybody by assigning empty passwords and would say “d’oh!” – “our bad”.

From Official Google Blog: And we are back:
“The Google Blog was unavailable for a short time tonight. We quickly learned from our initial investigation that there was no systemwide vulnerability for Blogger. We’ll let you know more about what did happen once we finish looking into it.
Update: We’ve determined the cause of tonight’s outage. The blog was mistakenly deleted by us (d’oh!) which allowed the blog address to be temporarily claimed by another user. This was not a hack, and nobody guessed our password. Our bad.”
This stuff is scary.
Real scary.

Some things are genious. Usually simple things. No. Always simple things.
All genious is simple when you see it. But to get to that people go really long way.
One of the examples – social software. How easy is that? And how much fun. What people were thinking before? Why we didn’t have blogs 10 years ago?
Well, while you’re thinking about it you might as well play this game – it’s genious in it’s own simple way – Don’t shoot the puppy

I wanted to try new product by google – Google Page Creator, but was told that there is not enough seats for the show and I have to wait. That’s ok I’ll wait.
The idea of easy page generation was always interesting for me and I think that now we can see something more interesting and useful than goecities and other old players in this area.
My thinking is that in a long run technology should allow people to forget about technology and worry about creativity only. Coders and programmers will be substituted by machines.
Anyway can’t wait to see what google offers in page creation for non technical folks in 2006.

Every year professionals and photo enthusiasts wait for Photo Marketing Association Show to find out about new toys for themselves. Many manufacturers prefer to release their new products on this show this time of the year. And more attention than others as always gets Canon with it’s replacement of most popular tools for digital photographers. This year the most awaited upgrade for many photographers is Canon D30 – semiprofessional digital SLR camera.

Although some folks seem to be disappointed a little with just minor updates to already beautiful body, it’s really hard to make something significantly better than Canon D20. And Canon is forced to give something more evolutionary than revolutionary at this stage of development in digital photography technology. It seems like the industry is getting to the point where it’s pretty mature and public shouldn’t expect big advances in technology that were happening couple years ago. The good news is that we have beautiful tools for photography, which are so good that it’s hard to improve them :)
You can always find more information about PMA 2006 on Phil’s Askey site www.dpreview.com or right here .
